Question: How do I change my home page?

Answer:

The home page on your browser is the page that displays when you first start the browser. Quite often this is set for Google or Bing or your ISP’s web page to display. Other people have set it to a page they quite often want to go to. On my browsers I have my home page set to www.dwightwatt.com

Sometimes we want to change our home page. This could be because preferences changed, the page is no longer relevant for us or some program changed it when did not want it changed.

The process to change the home page is relatively simple. I will now give directions for internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. Other browsers will be similar

In Internet Explorer, click on the wheel with cogs (or pieces sticking out) on the upper right or if you show the menu go to Tools. Now (either way gets you here) click on Internet Options. In the home page box type the address/url to the page you want to use (Google would be wwww.google.com) Then click OK. You have changed it. You can go to it without restarting by clicking the house shaped button (home).

In Firefox click Settings (has the wheel with cogs also) on bottom of page. Then in Homepage box type the address/url for the page you want to use (Google would be google.com). Then click OK. You have changed it. You can go to it without restarting by clicking the house shaped button (Firefox Start page).

In Chrome click the button at the top right that has three lines in it. Then choose Settings. In the On Startup section click Set Pages. In the Add a new page box type the address/url for the page you want to use (Google would be google.com). Then click OK. Close the Settings tab. You have changed it. You can go to it without restarting by clicking the house shaped button (Firefox Start page).

Thank you to Pat for the question.
